I've been working as the technology coordinator of Beach Elementary School for 8 years now. In the last few years my school faced a problem of success: we were using the internet to great success in our curriculum, and kids and parents were asking for the web addresses of some of the websites used in class so they could access them from home.
Having students write out urls on scraps of paper wasn't the best solution! We also had problems maintaining the websites we used, either on our school website on a webpage, or with bookmarks on local computers. We needed a fix, and iKeepbookmarks was the answer!
We now use iKeepbookmarks as the homepage for all our web browsers at the school. In this way, all internet resources for all the kids in the school are available at every computer, and at home for students too. I put a link on our district website to the ikeepbookmarks page so students and parents can easily find our links. The links are organized into grade level folders. Keeping the links updated has become decentralized, as several teachers and the librarian are comfortable using the "add to ikeepbookmarks" popup feature, and can add their own resources easily. We even have a few specialists who maintain links for parent education and resources.
I also love the fact you can edit your links from home too, as many teachers and myself work from home a lot. Last spring I came down sick and laying in bed with my laptop, I was able to add some links for a second grade class to use when they came into the computer lab later that morning! Previously, I would have had to been at school to prepare for the class.
