Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I add links?
A. On the right side of the "Links" bar (the green one), is an "Add" button. Click this to add a link. See the next question for more.
Note: If the security settings are "Author Only" for "Add Links", then you will need to Login first.

Q. But, isn't it easier just to add my favorite links to my browser?
A. Not anymore. If you are Logged In you will see a menu item called "PopUp". Click on this and follow the instructions on the Setup "Add to iKeepBookmarks.com" PopUp screen. Once you have added the "Add to iKeepBookmarks.com" link to your favorites (or bookmarks), you will find it just as easy to add a link to iKeepBookmarks.com as it is to add a link to your browser. And, since it is now stored on the web, you can use these from any browser on any computer.

Q. What if I want to change or delete a link?
A. On the right side of the "Links" bar (the green one), is an "Edit" button. Click this to change or delete your links.
Note: If the security settings are "Author Only" for "Edit Links", then you will need to Login first.

Q. How do I add folders?
A. On the right side of the "Folders" bar (the yellow one), is an "Add" button. Click this to add a folder.
Note: If the security settings are "Author Only" for "Add Folders", then you will need to Login first.

Q. Why do I want to add folders?
A. Just like you use folders to organize your hard disk, folders allow you to group links together. Of course, the links you use every day, you will probably want to keep them on your main account page and not in a folder.

Q. How do I move a link to another folder?
A. This is another function on the "Edit Links" screen. Check the links you want to move. On the right side (near the top) is a combo box that lets you choose the destination folder. Then, click on the "Move" button.

Q. I check a link, or folder, to delete it but, it is not going away?
A. For all of the "Advanced Functions" like delete, move, move to top, or move to bottom, you must click the respective button. Clicking "Finished" will not cause any of the "Advanced Functions" to execute.

Q. Can I add folders inside of my folders?
A. Yes. This is called nested folders.

Q. Can I change my Account Name?
A. Yes... just click on "Options"... scroll down to "Account Details" and change the "Account Name"... then click "Finished". If the new Account Name has not already been used, your Account Name will now be changed.

Q. My "Add to iKeepBookmarks.com" pop-up stopped working. What happened?
A. The most likely reason is that you have added a pop-up blocker. If you're using the Google toolbar's pop-up blocker, you can hold down CTRL when you click the "Add to iKeepBookmarks.com" button and it will not be blocked.

Q. I can't login any more. What is going on?
A. The most common reason for this problem is that you have turned off cookies... cookies are required to maintain your "logged in" status.

Q. What is the 'Public Listing' option?
A. There is a "Public Accounts" page link at the top of http://www.iKeepBookmarks.com/home.asp. But, what it does primarily is include your links in the "Search all of iKeepBookmarks.com" option.

Q. Is there any bulk import/export? This would allow 1) easy import of existing links and 2) a way to backup in case your site goes down.
A. Login and click on "Bookmarks" to get options for uploading and downloading links from/to a file. The file format is the standard IE/Netscape browser export "bookmark.htm" format. You can download your entire site by choosing "Bookmarks" from your main account page... or download individual folders (and sub-folders) by clicking on "Bookmarks" from within that folder. This is also a good way to copy bookmarks from one account to another.
