iKeepBookmarks.com: A Personal Portal

Create, manage, and access your bookmarks, on the web... from any computer... anywhere, anytime.

(Darien, IL) - Software Designs is pleased to announce a new Internet resource, iKeepBookmarks.com. This web site allows you to create, upload, and organize your bookmarks and your favorite links on the web. Because it is web based, you can access your favorite links from home, from work, or from any computer connected to the Internet. You also can share your favorite links with friends and associates... without HTML programming.

For instance, you might have several great web sites you've bookmarked, while surfing the Internet from home. But, when you get to work and want to show someone these sites, your bookmarks are at home. The new iKeepBookmarks system lets you quickly get to your favorite sites from any computer anywhere in the world.

Like Yahoo and other popular web directories, iKeepBookmarks.com displays links, organized by category, to other sites on the web. Here, though, you create the links and you create the categories, giving you your own, personal web directory. In addition, every link can be enhanced with comments, keywords, and/or descriptions.

Once you have signed up for a free account, you can begin adding links and folders to your personal account page. You also may upload your current IE Favorites or Netscape Bookmarks. Each account can be set up as a listed or as an unlisted account. And there is no limit to the number of links that can be added. There also is no limit to the depth, or number, of the folders that you can create. A search feature allows you to search all of your links and descriptions for that one bookmark you're pretty sure you saved... somewhere.

These features make iKeepBookmarks.com an ideal choice for your browsers' home page, making your favorite locations on the web only a click away. When you find a site you'd like to add to the list, you can use a popup form to add it to any folder on your personal account page.

There are a number of potential uses for a site like this. Businesses can use it to create a set of links to customer sites, product sites, or related links. It also can be used as a starting point for a company Intranet. Schools can use it to provide links for their students, organized by classroom or subject. And, of course, it makes a great home page for personal use.

The beauty of this idea is that it can be a truly personalized portal onto the Web. Anyone can create and manage this kind of portal, because no HTML programming is required. If the definition of a portal is a gateway onto the Web, then this kind of personal portal might just be the best of all.
